Chugging along.

Well, I am currently sitting in my newly finished basement and watching the New York Yankees put a whopping on the Philthadelphia Philies. I might be the only person out side of NY that is happy with this. Again, I like the Yankees largely in part to my hatred for the Boston Red Sux. Anytime the Red Sox don't win, I am happy.

We had an ultrasound on Monday which was unbelievable. I can't believe that there is a person...with arms, legs, a heart, a face, etc growing inside my wife's stomach. It's absolutely amazing.

That reminds me, if you ever know a woman that is pregnant, don't refer to her as "fat with baby." I guess they don't like that.

I've Been Everywhere, man.

Well, I haven't actually been everywhere...in fact, I haven't been to all that many places, but with each year I mark on this earth I hope to at least add someplace new.

This weekend was a fairly busy one for me. Friday we celebrated the big five year anniversary. It was a great evening. We had dinner at McCormick and Schmick's which is a lovely seafood restaurant downtown. After a wonderful appetizer (Calamari) I had the Steelhead Trout which was outstanding. It came smothered in a horseradish sauce, which had just the perfect amount of "oomph" to it. Apple Pie for dessert and a few Knob Creek and Cokes and I was a fairly happy camper.

Saturday morning we left the house when we woke up, grabbed the paper from the front step and headed to the Taste of Scandinavia for breakfast, coffee and some chill time. I had the Swedish Farmer's Omelet.

Saturday afternoon was an experience that I won't soon forget. I have never had a massage and I don't know how I fell about people touching me in general, but we went to Just for Me Spa in Stillwater for a "spa day." My sister and her husband gave us this day as a happy anniversary/happy birthday gift. Despite my misgivings, it actually was a very nice day.

The evening was spent at my mom's house for birthday dinner...and I got a case of Feigling from my mom for this momentous day. Pretty outstanding gift, if you ask me. What? You weren't going to ask me? Well, boo you. Boo.

Yesterday I had brunch with my grandparents at the Roasted Pear. The reason I like their brunch as much as I do is that it is heavy on the "unch" part and light on the "br" part. I make no bones about the fact that I am not a big fan of breakfast food so if I can score roast beef, mashed potatoes, salmon, chicken, etc., a kick ass meal was just had!

Wrapped up the day with Hancock on Blu-Ray. Overall I was fairly disappointed. I guess I just didn't like the story at all. Oh well.

Observation.

So, a few of my coworkers have been recently turned on to the joys of blog ownership and I feel somewhat responsible. I suggested blogger for a food blog which then spawned another blog about vids.

As I was showing Paulie Walnuts the nuances of blogger, we went back through some of my old posts. He mentioned how cool of a thing blogging is as a way to look back. He then said to me, "You don't do this much, do you?"

It got me thinking...these blogs are a pretty sweet way to have record of what I thought about during a specific time or event. I should try to do this more often.

Just a quickie.

Just a quick note this evening. On Sunday we were looking for somewhere to grab lunch and decided that sitting outdoors would be ideal. After driving up and down Washington Ave. we decided to just find something on Nicollet. After walking a few blocks I saw the sign to Barrio. It's a Tequila bar with Mexican inspired food. The reason I am even telling you about this is that the food was phenomenal. I got the Sandwich Cubano and I must say it was unbelievable. It actually kept me full until I went to bed. I never even thought about food the rest of the day. We had also ordered guacamole as an appetizer and I'd say the guac is worth going to Barrio for. I really wanted to steal the thing they served it in, but it weighed 18,000 pounds.

After lunch we made our way up and down the mall then found ourselves at the New Metrodome. I am excited to watch baseball there. From what we could see it is going to be an outstanding ball park.

Overall...Sunday's lunch date gets an A++

Damn Target.

So I had to stop in to my local Target Store to drop off a prescription at the pharmacy. No big deal, they said they can fill it in about 15 minutes and I can just go walk around. How I end up spending $65 when all I went in for was a $3.31 prescription is beyond me! I think they pump some sort of drug in the air there that gets people to spend money. Bastards. And how do I get that stuff in my house for when people come over?

On the plus side of the story I did pick up three pretty good albums. The big score was the new Wilco album interestingly titled, Wilco (the Album). It's much more happy and upbeat than their previous albums, but I really, really like it.

I also got the newest Silversun Pickups' CD, Swoon. Not nearly as good as Caravan, but with a song like Lazy Eye it was going to be tough to top...

Also, Let the Dominoes Fall by Rancid is outstanding. Much more mellow than the Rancid of old, but I appreciate that...seeing as how I am getting to be an old, boring dumbass.

Well, it's the Fourth of July so I feel like I need to mention something that I learned at the Twins game last night. First is that games that go in to 16 innings SUCK. Especially if the Twins end up losing. But more importantly I learned something about a song that I thought I knew everything about. To kick off the 7th inning stretch some lady sang God Bless America. Seeing as how it is Independence Day weekend, I thought it was great. Until the like "From the mountains to the prairies to the oceans white with snow." Wait, what, did I just say snow???? I always thought our oceans were white with foam. Goes to show you that I don't know anything. Apparently neither does the Internets because everyone else seems to think that the oceans are white with foam as well. I guess we're all idiots.

Happy Fourth of July everyone. And a BIG thank you to our men and women that are serving, and have served, to preserve our freedoms. Especially the Navy folks :).

Day One.

Day One of no more coffee.

No urge to maim anyone as of yet...

Why in the hell do I do this to myself?

My Shoes Hurt.

Well, the 2009 baseball trip was a smashing success. A great time was had by all...or at least by me...I don't care about anyone else. St. Louis was a very cool city and I think I'd like to get back there someday. The Arch was a lot more impressive than I thought it would be. I was also surprised to learn that its the tallest man made memorial in the US. I don't know what I thought would be taller, I guess it just came as a surprise.

We found a few cool bars in the Lou despite the fact that the downtown is very quiet in the evenings. There is a bar outside of Busch Stadium where I got to rub elbows with one of Minneapolis' finest. Thanks to dear friendship with the Stooge, I even got a Whiskey Coke out of the deal! Small world!

The game was ridiculously hot. I was sweating so damn bad that I got sunburned through my undershirt! I guess the fact that it was transparent by the 3rd inning didn't help that fact at all (gross, I know). For some reason the heat didn't bother me too much. Maybe it was all of the beer.

We also got to tour the Budweiser brewery. It's a very nice facility, the grounds are nice. The only downfall of the visit is that the tour kinda sucks. The fact that they need to shuffle 200 people every 10 minutes around the brewery leaves a lot out of the tour. Didn't get to really "learn" anything about the beer making process. Oh, there is one other thing that sort of sucked about the brewery...for the most part their beer is shitty.

KC was about as crappy as I expected but the BBQ in that town KICKS ASS!!!! We went to this dump of a place called Gate's Bar B.Q and dominated a little meal they like to call the "4 Boner." Ribs, Ham and Beef Brisket with beans and fries. AWESOME!

Kaufman Stadium was pretty nice. Even though its like 40 years old and just remodeled it still feels like a "new" stadium. Of all the places I've been it still ranks near the bottom (sorry White Sux fans, US Cellular is a shithole) but the new parts were vary nice. We happened to be there on One Dollar Hot Dog, Peanuts or Pop day which was an added bonus. The coolest thing was that the vendors were walking around with the $1.00 hot dogs so I didn't even have to get up to get them. Was a little upset by the 6 dogs per transaction limit, but what can you do? The only thing that would have made the day better would have been if the Royals and the Tigers could have lost...stupid baseball rules.

We hit up some museums there as well, but I need to go finish making dinner so that might have to wait for another time.

I also just watched The Wrestler and want to offer some commentary on that. Hopefully I'll do it before I forget what I wanted to say!

And yes, I did try pulling up my socks.
